Umra Omar is a native of Pate Island with a cosmopolitan background that uniquely serve the interests of Safari Doctors Initiative. Umra has an array of global experience in health rights and communications. After almost a decade of professional development overseas, Umra returned to her native Lamu to better serve the communities that need it most. She holds a Masters in Social Justice in Intercultural Relations from the School for International Training in Vermont and an undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Psychology from Oberlin College in Ohio. She was awarded the top 10 CNN Heroes Award of 2016 for her initiative with Safari Doctors.
